Coverage & Directory Status

Global IBAN Validation. Precise National Bank Directories.

PayeeValidate provides global IBAN structural verification and MOD-97 checksum checks across all official ISO and SEPA member registries, combined with active official bank directories.

Feature Coverage

IBAN validation checks the country format, length, permitted characters, and MOD-97 checksum. BIC and bank-name results are directory lookups, so their availability is shown separately.

Germany uses the official Bundesbank directory to return an institution name, BIC, and 8-digit Bankleitzahl (BLZ). Austria and Switzerland have maintained directory data in the project scripts, but those lookups are not yet enabled in the public API.

Bank-name lookup identifies the financial institution for an IBAN. It does not validate or confirm an account holder's name.

Understanding SEPA & Global Scope

The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) encompasses all 27 European Union member states plus the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, and Vatican City. PayeeValidate fully supports IBAN format and checksum verification for all SEPA and ISO registry countries globally.
